My absolute favorite genre is fantasy, with the runner up being dystopian. I have always written fantasy. There’s something, well, magical about being transported into a completely different world or universe.
Recently, I started a new project. And I decided to switch genres. This project is a Christian contemporary romance story. More specifically, it’s a cowboy romance story.
I wanted to switch genres primarily because of my lack of actually writing, and my focus on planning everything out. A lot of times when I’m writing a fantasy world, I feel very pressured to make sure my world building is absolutely perfect before starting any chapters. With contemporary, you don’t need to work through every single thing, because most systems are already in place.
Anyways, back to the new project!
Title: Small Town Star
Words Written: 807
Milestones Hit: Prologue done!!
Barriers To Writing: I’m always working and my computer is always dead 🤪
I don’t have a full synopsis yet (I’m working on it!) but I will post it soon.
The story follows passionate Cassidy James, her horse Cowboy, Southern charmer Shane Johnson, and mysterious Jason Hawk.
I’m still working out all the plot twists (hehe!!), but I’m hoping for an exciting story with heartfelt (but clean!) moments and a powerful message about trust.
Keep a lookout for new posts about it!
Do you like cowboy romance? What are some tropes you’re looking for in Christian novels? Have any tips for me?
