Thank you so much Luca Faith for this tag! I’m going to be answering a few questions about the main characters from Project Snow, Kye and Eleanor! Enjoy!
The Questions…
When did you start this story? How did you come up with the idea?
I think it was back in November when I first got the idea for Project Snow. I was feeling very out of touch with the characters in Small Town Star, and I was tossing around the idea of starting a separate short story series for the blog, when I was suddenly struck with the idea of a boy who lived in the forest and and girl who came out to pick flowers. And it all went downhill (or uphill?) from there.
Do you have any backstory on this story?
Honestly, I only planned on this to be a novella, with snowy vibes and a little romance. But with the way I’m plotting/writing, it’s definitely going to be longer. I have realized that a lot the characters I usually write are tough and battle-hardened and/or full of hate, so I wanted to try to write a soft, gentle character, and thus, Eleanor was born! Kye is my typical bad boy though.
What is your character’s favorite saying?
Neither of them really have a favorite saying. Eleanor does a lot of singing, since she is of a different race/species (I don’t really know how I’m classifying them yet) and she can “talk” to nature through song. Kye does remember a lot of phrases that his mentor told him.
How old is your MC (main character)?
They’re both around 19-20, I haven’t really thought of the exact number yet haha.
What is the opening scene in your story?
Nothing’s set in stone yet. In draft one, Kye is on a rooftop overhearing a conversation between two merchants. However, I think I’m going to change it in draft two to something more like Kye watching the seers and seething about how much he hates them 🤌✨
What is the ending scene in your story?
Too many spoilers! But I am also still deciding what I want it to be.
What is the MC’s goal in the story? Why is it important?
Kye wants to destroy the people who destroyed him, but he doesn’t see himself doing it until much later. Eleanor wants the Maker to use her however He wishes. Their goals are what bring them together in the story.
How did you pick the character(s) names?
Both names randomly popped into my head while I was plotting, and I went with it. Sometimes I forget how I spell Eleanor and so I think there are three different versions of her name in the first draft.
