(I apologize for the late post. Church took nearly half the day!)
I love the Christmas season. The all-present joy and the overbearing peace. The whole world seems to stop and wait expectantly for the 25th day of December. Why does a world so evil and twisted adore such a sacred day? They can try to pollute it with tales of elves and magical reindeer, but they can never take the true Light of Christmas away. And even now, 2,000+ years after the silent night, the star, and the Baby in the manger, the world still celebrates the day God became man.
Welcome to post number three in Countdown to 2025! As you probably guessed, today I will be reflecting on the Christmas season.
Christmas Eve
The daytime of Christmas Eve is always very mellow in our house. We ate chili, cornbread, and mac & cheese for dinner. At 5:00, we went to a church service. We sang carols and listened to a short message. At the end, we lit candles and sang Silent Night. It was beautiful. (A little girl in front of us almost lit herself on fire, but I digress.)
My family’s tradition is to open sibling gifts on Christmas Eve. My two siblings and I gathered around our tiny Christmas tree and exchanged gifts. My brother gave me this fabulous duck stuffie:

And my sister got me the cutest duck cowgirl sticker and a mug with pictures of my bunnies that SHE DREW HERSELF. It’s literally the cutest thing I own:

(By the way… should I introduce the buns to the blog?)
It was such a lovely evening.
Christmas Day
Christmas Day was sunny but chilly, the perfect combination. No wind, just a peaceful day. It had me remembering all that I am thankful for; my loving family, my house, my cozy bed, my rabbits, my dog, my cats, my job, my faith.
We opened stockings first. I always love all the little trinkets that are stuffed inside. My favorites this year are this cute (but cool) multi-purpose tool (basically a pocket knife, but with other stuff too!) and an expansion pack for one of my favorite games.

Then came the presents. The glittery wrapping, the sound of paper tearing, my cat attacking little shreds of tissue paper, my dog happily squeaking his new gingerbread man toy. It felt like a scene out of a movie.
My mom got my three amazing looking books, The Choosing, Where Darkness Cannot Follow, and Every Good Gift. I am so excited to read them. Hey Dude shoes and a cute Wrangler wallet were also some of my favorites.

Conclusion
I am beyond blessed to have such a wonderful family, a roof over my head, and more than I could ever need. This season was so fulfilling and joyful. I’m sad it’s almost over. But the Christmas spirit will always reign in my heart, because we never have to stop celebrating Jesus’ birth.
What are your favorite things you got for Christmas? What’s your favorite part about the Christmas season?
Have a blessed day!
