Welcome back to the next installment of On The Bookshelf, a monthly post series where I recap what I’ve read, what I’ve finished, and what I’m reading next!

First off, I’m very sorry for neglecting this blog. Life has been so hectic recently, and the joy I used to find in blogging has disappeared. You may not hear from me as often as I’d like, but I hope to find my motivation again soon 🩷

February, just like January, has not been very productive, reading-wise. I haven’t finished anything yet, as I’ve been jumping from book-to-book, trying to find something I like (spoiler alert- I found at least two 🤩). I’m not pushing myself to try to finish as many books as possible anymore, and instead I’ve been trying to enjoy the books I read.

Currently Reading

My friend convinced me to buy Powerless when we were out at our local bookstore, and it’s AMAZING. The banter, the storyline, the vivid characters… 😍 I don’t love the curse words at all, but it doesn’t bother me as much as it would other people. I’m on page 430 currently and I’m so close to finishing it.

Calor turned out to be much better than I anticipated! I’m about 60% of the way through. The only reason I stopped reading for now is because my Kindle is almost dead and I can’t find the charger. I’m focusing on finishing Powerless first and then I’ll come back to this one.

Recently DNF

Why finish a book series I hate, anyway? This one got so annoying with the characters with no personality. I don’t think I’ll ever pick it up again.

I didn’t love Brandes’ writing style, and the characters weren’t particularly memorable, plus the world was complicated and not explained enough in the beginning to keep me reading.

On My TBR

Assuming I like the end of Powerless and Common Sense Media claims there’s no spice, I’ll probably continue this series. I love the writing style and the characters.

On The Physical Bookshelf

I found this one while with my friend at the bookstore, and considering it’s been on my TBR, I snagged it. It’s patiently waiting its turn to be read.

My friend also convinced me to buy Love and Gelato. I’m not a fan of contemporary fiction, but it looks like a good story!

Conclusion

You may have noticed that certain sections from the first installment are missing, and some are added. I think I’ll fluctuate the sections depending on how the month’s been.

Have you read any of these books? What are your favorite genres? Do you look up book ratings before you read?

Have a blessed day!

Eragon is so good! You should absolutely read it!

It starts out a bit slowly, but the first two books in the Inheritance Cycle are amazing! The third one got a bit too gorey/creepy for me. Maybe I’ll pick it back up one day…

I’ve heard of Love and Gelato. It’d be cool to hear your review when you read it.

If you want to review it that is 🙂

I’ve been wanting to read Eragon. I watched the movie and didn’t like it, but books are always better, in my experience!
