It has been a rainy week here in Cali, and that means canceled shifts and time at home. I had a dentist appointment on Monday, and while driving to it we passed a Barnes and Noble. Now, this bookstore has been there for as long as I can remember, and yet I have only been there one time, and that was when I was very young and just there for the toys.

Durning my dentist appointment, I vowed to go to B&N soon. As I was talking to my sister about it, I remembered that, at least the last time I had gone, they had a little cafe. After a quick Google search, I discovered that they not only had a cafe and seating, but free WiFi as well. My sis and I freaked out because now we have a place to go write and plan our novels while simultaneously being surrounded by books. What better way to spend a morning than creating a fantasy book and dreaming about one day having your work on one of those shelves?

Anyway, of course we couldn’t just go to write. I ended up buying less books than I thought I would, and I consider that a win lol. Overall, I purchased five books, and both my sister and I got lots of writing done.

1) Dungeons And Drama by Kristy Boyce

This one looked so cute (I mean, look at that cover!!!), and it had my sister and I frantically searching the internet to find out if it was clean. It is (thankfully), and I couldn’t pass it up. I have little interest in Dungeons and Dragons but I have played it before and I haven’t read any fake dating books yet, and this one seemed great! I just started it and I’m on chapter three, hopefully I’ll post a review.

2) Toxic Empathy by Allie Beth Stuckey

I’m currently reading Stuckey’s other book, You’re Not Enough (And That’s Okay), and when I saw that she had this one too, I had to grab it. It includes some great topics that I want to be completely firm on, and I can’t wait to start it!

3) Powerful by Lauren Roberts

As a companion to the Powerless series (which I’m currently reading), I just had to grab this one, especially since it was marketed as a sweet romance. And the sprayed edges are to die for. Like, when I’m published, I will be getting the edges sprayed. That’s non-negotiable.

4) The Do-Over by Lynn Painter

Argh, this one looks so cute. That cover! I didn’t even read the blurb (oops 🥴) before looking up if it was clean. My sister read the back of the book to me as we drove home. I just couldn’t pass up the red truck on the cover 😍 And it also has sprayed edges???

5) Defy The Night by Brigid Kemmerer

Defy The Night was recommended by Kay Adelin and it looked really good. Plus, the cover is gorgeous. I cannot wait to read this 🩷

Overall, the trip to B&N was amazing, and I cannot wait to go again. Perhaps I should let my wallet rest first lol.

Do you like Barnes and Noble? Have you read any of these books? Which one did you enjoy the most? Of these, which would you most like to see a book review on? Any recommendations for what I should get next?

Have a blessed day, friends!

I’m reading Dungeons & Drama at the moment and really enjoying it, hope you do too!

It’s so nice to have a place like this to go for both work and fun! There used to be a coffee shop near me with a nice book corner that I liked to go to, but they got bought out last year and got rid of the book nook. At least the drinks and wifi and still good!

I’m hopefully going to write a review on it soon! I liked it, but it’s definitely more for a mature audience.
